Great website brother! question i’ve just started my process and have alloy rims. suggest good sand primer but whats that “fill in” primer? is this something we should all use? Also, clear coat is it possible to get it in a matte finish? Thanks for your help and i wish you continued success!
Hi Tom –
Thanks for the note and the props! The fill primer fills minor superficial scratches and pitting, if any, on the surface of the wheel. Per my guide users can skip this step if they wish. Even if someone used it on a perfect wheel it would cause no harm; it simply makes for an ultra-smooth (and sandable) surface.
Yes, it’s possible to get a flat, or matte, clearcoat. That’s what I provide to my customers in the flat-color kits. It should be noted that it’s very hard to get and even I, as a distributor, have a long lead time when ordering it. It’s a pain but that’s part of the reason I started Rimpainter – so people didn’t have to go searching for all of this stuff.
I hope that helped!
Thanks,
Christian
i was just wondering if you would deliver to the uk.
Thanks,
James
James –
I’d love to. Unfortunately I’m limited by shipping regulations and customs. My suggestion is to purchase the eGUIDE, which has a supplies list on it. It will walk you through all the steps necessary to do the job, and to do it right.
Thanks,
Christian
