Customer Report: Flat Black with Polished Lip

It's been a while since I've written and been even longer since I've featured a customer submission. This latest submission ties in nicely with a blog entry I have been planning anyway: painting your wheel and leaving a chrome or polished lip.

In the past I actually didn't care for this look much. But it has grown on me over the years. The transition from a silver or chrome wheel can be quite dramatic - sometimes shocking. Of course it looks awesome and everything, it's just that when it comes to custom additions to your ride, you want it to come out exactly as planned. As this painted wheel and polished aluminum lip look has grown on me, I have actually recommended it to many of my customers. This customer liked the suggestion and did a fantastic job of following our eGUIDE, masking off the lip, and painting the wheel.

Note: You are seeing a reflection of the now black wheel, not overspray on the lip.

And the finished product, mounted on the vehicle. Wow, this Lexus IS300 is one slick ride!
