Gloss Black w/chrome lip on a Mustang GT

This customer contacted me because he wanted to not only improve the look of his Mustang, but he also wanted to do something about his flaking chrome wheels. My advice was to use a cup brush and a drill and really sand the wheels, ensuring ALL of the flaking was gone prior to following our eGUIDE and applying the paint.

Work in progress...gloss black on a Jeep

I know many of you are curious about the process of wheel painting. Some of you are still researching the process to see if it's for you. I commend you for that. Wheel painting isn't for everyone. If you're still on the fence, perhaps this customer from Staten Island, NY. will instill confidence in you. Braving temps in the 30's, this customer removed the wheels off his Jeep and carefully followed the instructions found within our provided-with-every-kit eGUIDE. As you can see, this customer even took care to avoid overspray on the concrete. A great idea!

Acura TL transformation

I'm a big fan of the 3rd gen Acura TL. I think they look "burly" and are packed with the features that so many of us desire. I would buy one for sure if I was in the market for a FWD V6. I was excited when a customer from Pensacola, FL purchased a gloss black wheel paint kit from us and then out of the blue sent me pictures.

Gloss Black on a brand new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport

This is an eGUIDE customer who already had paint prior to finding our website. To ensure proper application, this customer smartly purchased our eGUIDE. We sent the eGUIDE electronically to the customer (standard on every purchase) and answered a few questions. A few days later the pictures started coming in. I think this customer really put the sport back into his Outlander Sport!

Our "mascot" (R/C Stadium Truck) catching some air

I guess you could say this Traxxas Slash 2x4 is our company truck. After all, I did paint the wheels with our gloss black kit. Was board so I filmed it jumping in the woods with my son. Enjoy!

A stadium truck gets black wheels

Dirt burning power, massive suspension travel, and flying off huge jumps...yes, that's right, it's a stadium truck! One small catch: It's a 1/10 RC stadium truck. But it's no ordinary RC truck. It's a Traxxas Slash RTR #5308. And it's a Slash that desperately needed black wheels in my opinion. The stock plastic beadlocked wheels are just too bling for this dirt-ripping truck sporting a gray-on-black paint scheme. It was time to tone it down a bit in the wheel department.

Customer Report: Gloss Black on a Jeep Wrangler

I'm somewhat partial to flat black on 4x4's and trucks. Most of the time that's what I recommend to customers who drive these types of vehicles. But I must say, this customer may have changed my outlook a bit. What a fantastic green on this off-road-ready Jeep! The customer's choice of gloss black really complimented the green paint and black accents nicely. Don't get me wrong, flat black would have looked awesome too, but I am really impressed with how great of a job this customer did not only with the color choice, but with following our eGUIDE and doing a tremendous job applying the product in a professional manner.

Customer Report: Flat Black with Polished Lip

It's been a while since I've written and been even longer since I've featured a customer submission. This latest submission ties in nicely with a blog entry I have been planning anyway: painting your wheel and leaving a chrome or polished lip.

The answer? Absolutely! Each rimpainter kit comes with the tools you need to do the job right. That's why rimpainter.com exists. These are tricks of the trade that you do not want to learn the hard way. More detail is provided in the eGUIDE (which is included with each kit) but I am going to provide you with a quick overview here.

Customer Longevity Report – 6 months

I get questions from all over the world about wheel paint longevity. “How long does it last?” A good (but loaded) question for someone in the business of providing customers with a product that’s exposed to the elements on a consistent basis. Have you considered what your wheels are exposed to? Generally speaking, they’re probably exposed to the following:

The Importance of Using Clear Coat, Illustrated

This is the story of an individual who managed to piece together some of the items needed to paint his wheels, but skipped a crucial step: clear coat. The reason he skipped the clear coat step is because he feared that clear coat would make his wheels glossy in the end. Ultimately, he wanted a flat black look, not a glossy finish. Under normal circumstances, standard clear coat will make your wheels glossy. So I definitely understand the motive.
