About Us
His passion for customization began in a cold, damp Pacific Northwest garage in the early 90’s and hasn’t stopped since. Christian’s first project, a Mazda mini truck, went from a boring base model to a slammed show-winner in no time.
Mazda B2200
The next decade or so brought on a slew of modified rides; everything from all-motor Honda’s to supercharged 4×4’s. As projects came and went, a recurring issue became clear: Purchasing a set of custom rims wasn’t always the best option. Many of today’s vehicles come from the factory with great-looking, well-engineered rims. Plus, many of us like to swap rims from one vehicle to another. Rimpainter.com was formed to help enthusiasts paint their rims, resulting in that personal, customized look that so many of us desire.
Countless hours have been spent researching application methods and painting daily-driven and scrap rims in an effort to obtain an ideal combination of prep, paint, and finishing products for your rim painting needs. Additionally, Christian trained and worked for nearly two years with a leading automotive specialty coating outfit. Rest assured, the paint products offered at rimpainter.com have been tested for finish and longevity.
At rimpainter.com, we’re committed to providing cost-effective rim painting supplies and unparalleled support to our customers.
We are a USA-based company that believes in supporting USA-produced, quality products whenever possible.

I want to paint my chrome rims black. Have you had any success scuffing chrome to the point that it can be painted over?
Yes; painting over chrome can be done. As outlined in the guide, you just need to pay careful attention to the scuffing step and definitely use etching primer (also in our kit). The 4Runner in the gallery is mine and the bumpers use to be chrome. Let me know if you need any more help.
Will do. Thanks so much for your help. Is one of you kits for one wheel or four?
Sorry for taking so long to respond. I was traveling.
Thanks for your help
Our kits are intended for all four wheels. I provide enough paint to cover (4) 15-20″ wheels, with some leftover for touch-up (should you ever need it). Let me know if I can answer any more questions for you. Thanks!
Where can I get a wire cup?
Hey Tyler –
I now recommend using a less evasive scuffing process, which is included with my kit. But to answer your question, you should be able to get a cup brush at Lowe’s or Home Depot. Again, for the best result, the scuff sponge included in my kit works best. It’s hard with a video on YouTube pointing to one thing, and then selling another, but I guess you could say it’s a “revision” to the process. The reasons I now go with the scuff sponge is because a) less of a chance of getting something in your eye b) it can conform and scuff hard to reach places better than the cup brush c) it’s just easier to work with (and doesn’t require a drill). Let me know if I can help further. Thanks.
well i own 69 beetle and Iam trying to repaint the rims they are a tad rusty and trying to make them look like new
If I order a kit from you are the supplies enough for 4 rims frount and back?If yes could you get flat gray with gloss clear coat?
Correct, our kit will handle 4 wheels no problem. I can get gray, but the clearcoat is what makes the end result flat or glossy. So, when you say flat gray w/gloss clear, it will result in a glossy finish. If you really want a flat or semi-gloss look, go with gray and flat clearcoat. Take a look at the Duplicolor color chart. Let me know if you like WP101 or WP102 better. I’ll need to draft up a custom invoice for you if you want the WP101 (gray), but that’s really easy. Just email me at christian [at] rimpainter.com (no additional fees will be added – current kit pricing will apply). Thanks for your interest! -Christian
WOW!
This is exactly what I needed! A few months ago I looked into customized wheels and felt inspired to get them painted. After coming up on your video I knew I would be paint them flat gray. The only thing was i didnt know where/how i could get the look I wanted (I didnt notice you had a website that sold the kit.. shm) I started my search with powder coaters but early on found the the turn-around would have been 10 days without my baby!! not to mention a good 400 bucks after all was said and done. I am really glad i decided to search for your video again because this time around i caught the website! this is too perfect. Would i be able to get a flat gray w/flat clear coat as well?
It’s always great to get feedback like this. Thank you! Yes, I can always put together a kit for my customers. It just so happens that a gray is available, I just need to know which “gray” you want. Let me know if you like Silver or Graphite, based on the color chart found here: http://www.duplicolor.com/products/colors/wheel.html
There’s no additional charge for this. Simply email me with the go-ahead and I’ll send you a custom invoice through PayPal.
Thanks,
Christian
will this paint ever chip?
It’s pretty much like your vehicle’s paint so the answer is yes, it can. But so can just about anything given the right circumstances. The good news is that in the unlikely event of a chip, you’ll have enough supplies in your kit to make a repair. My guide outlines the repair process so you’ll be back on the road in no time.
