Black Wagon Wheels?

by Christian on August 1, 2009

A very kind neighbor gave us a wagon a while back. My son loves it. But I could just tell that he wanted to roll on black rims instead of the plastic white hubcaps. I mean, who doesn’t want to roll on black rims anyway? So, after a rather rough week, I decided to take a closer look at this matter in an effort to take my mind off things and to satisfy my son’s black wheel obsession (OK, it’s probably daddy’s obsession! Ha ha!).

“What is this?!” he asks.

The White Wheeled Wagon - Yuck!

Normally painting plastic requires the use of an adhesion promoter and/or etching primer.  As I examined the design (white hubcap held down by a hammer-in-place self-locking washer and protective cap), I realized that lurking underneath that white ugly thing was a solid black wheel! Sweet! Instead of painting, I changed my strategy to cutting. Using tin snips, I carefully cut away the white hubcap and pried it off. There you have it folks, black wheels on a wagon…and one happy kid!

You surely are a man possessed! But I have to admit that wagon does look more mod now!
